Do they put you to sleep for carpal tunnel surgery?

My doctor recommended carpal tunnel surgery for my wrist pain that's been bothering me for months. I'm a bit nervous about the procedure itself. Will they give me general anesthesia and put me completely to sleep for it?

Actually yaar, mostly they just numb your hand and arm with local anesthesia. You are wide awake but you won't see anything because of the screen they put up.

I was incredibly anxious about being awake during hand surgery. But local numbing is very effective, and the surgeons talk to you to keep you calm.

It is typically a day-care procedure under local blocks. You are awake, and it's quick enough that you can get discharged and head home the same afternoon.

They do it under local anesthesia. Don't delay the surgery if your doctor recommended it, I ignored my wrist pain for years and ended up with permanent numbness.

Most cases use local blocks, but if you have nerve sensitivity or high anxiety, discuss sedation options with your surgeon beforehand to prevent complications.
