Do sweeteners cause weight gain?

My doctor advised me to cut down on sugar, so I've been using artificial sweeteners in my tea and coffee. Do these sweeteners actually cause weight gain, despite being calorie-free?

My doctor told me that while artificial sweeteners have zero calories, they can sometimes trick the brain and increase your appetite for actual sugar later. This can lead to overeating and weight gain indirectly. It is best to use them sparingly.

Ho na, people think sugar-free means they can eat double the amount of sweets. That is why they end up gaining weight. We should eat natural things in limited portions instead of relying on these chemicals.

No, they don't have calories so they don't directly cause weight gain. Just don't let them increase your overall appetite.

Haan, inme calories toh nahi hoti but ye cravings bohot badha dete hain. If you have diet coke but eat two samosas with it, weight toh badhega hi na. Simple control rakho apni eating habits par.

I used to panic thinking my sugar-free tablets were making me gain weight and immediately stopped them. But honestly, once I fixed my overall diet and started walking, my weight came down easily. Sweeteners won't make you gain weight on their own.
