Do stomach ulcers cause weight gain?

Diagnosed with a stomach ulcer recently, I've noticed I'm actually gaining weight, which feels unusual with stomach problems. I wanted to ask if stomach ulcers can cause weight gain. I thought it would be the opposite.

I was actually reading about this yesterday. Usually, ulcers cause weight loss because eating hurts, but sometimes people eat constantly to coat the stomach acid and stop the pain, which leads to weight gain. It is crazy how different bodies react to the same issue.

Beta, stomach ulcers usually make a person weak and lose weight because they cannot digest food properly. In our days, we used to drink cold milk or cabbage juice to soothe the burning sensation. Please eat simple food and consult a doctor for proper treatment.

Honestly, weight changes with ulcers depend on your eating pattern. If you eat small, bland meals like oats or plain dal-rice frequently to avoid acidity pain, you might gain some weight. Just keep a food diary to track what suits your stomach and see a doctor.

Before spending thousands on expensive weight loss programs, it is cheaper to get a basic H. pylori test or a doctor's consult for your stomach burning. If ulcers are making you overeat to stop the acid pain, treating the ulcer will automatically solve the weight issue budget-friendly.

When you have thyroid issues, weight is already tricky, and stomach ulcers make it harder to eat right. If you are gaining weight or feeling bloated, get your thyroid levels and stomach health checked together. Regular blood tests and doctor follow-ups are key to finding the root cause.

My gastroenterologist explained that duodenal ulcers specifically can sometimes cause weight gain. This is because food temporarily neutralizes the acid pain, prompting patients to eat more frequently. It is a very specific mechanism, so a professional diagnosis is necessary.

Haan na, usually toh weight loss hota hai ulcer mein but sometimes continuous pain relief ke liye heavy khana padta hai, toh weight badh jata hai. It's better to consult a doctor instead of worrying, deep breath lo and checkup karvao.

Stomach ulcers typically cause weight loss due to nausea and loss of appetite. However, if you are experiencing weight gain, it might be due to constant snacking to suppress the acid pain, or some other metabolic issue. Skip the guesswork and get an endoscopy done.

It was so hard for me when I gained weight because I was eating plain bread every two hours just to stop the terrible burning in my stomach. People kept telling me to diet, but they didn't understand the pain I was in. If you are going through this, please know your feelings are totally valid.

At fifty, my stomach is a factory of gas and acidity! Usually, ulcers make you look thin, but if you are like me and treat every stomach ache with heavy snacks, weight gain is inevitable. Better ask a doctor before we blame all our extra kilos on the ulcer!
