Do sleeping pills cause weight gain?

Doc ne mujhe insomnia ke liye sleeping pills di hain. Mujhe darr hai ki kahin isse mera vajan na badh jaye, pehle bhi weight ka issue raha hai.

Please be very careful with sleeping pills. I gained almost 8 kgs in three months because they made me feel extremely sluggish and increased my late-night cravings. Do not start or stop these medicines without a doctor's supervision.

According to my fitness tracker data, my metabolism slowed down and my daily step count dropped when I was on sleep meds because of next-day grogginess. This lack of activity, rather than the pill itself, often leads to weight gain. Keep tracking your active calories if you are taking them.

Some specific classes of sleep medications, like certain antihistamines or antidepressants used for sleep, are clinically proven to alter metabolism and increase appetite. My psychiatrist explained that standard sleeping aids shouldn't cause gain directly if taken short-term. Always ask your prescriber about metabolic side effects.

I always suggest natural ways like drinking warm chamomile tea or doing light stretching before bed to avoid pills. Sleeping pills have many side effects, including digestive issues and weight changes. If your insomnia is severe, please see a qualified doctor instead of self-medicating.

Honestly, yes, they can absolutely mess with your weight. They slow down your morning energy levels, meaning you skip the gym and eat junk because you feel tired. If you don't watch your diet, the weight will definitely creep up.
