Do prenatal pills cause weight gain?

I recently started taking prenatal pills as I'm trying to conceive, and I feel like I've gained a few kilos. My appetite also seems to have increased. Do prenatal pills cause weight gain, or is it just me?

No, prenatal vitamins themselves don't cause weight gain. The weight gain during this time is completely due to the growing baby and pregnancy changes.

They absolutely do not cause weight gain. Vitamins are micronutrients, not macronutrients, so they don't have calories to make you gain fat. Any weight gain you are seeing is just the natural progress of your pregnancy, so don't skip your essential pills.

I used to worry that these pills were making me fat, but my doctor explained that it is just normal pregnancy weight. Sometimes the iron in the pills can cause bloating or constipation, which makes you feel heavy. Drinking warm water and eating high-fiber foods really helps ease that heavy feeling.

Honestly, I also thought the vitamins were making me gain weight quickly, but it was just my body changing. Some pills can increase your appetite slightly, but as long as you eat healthy snacks instead of junk, you will be fine. Don't worry about the scale right now!

Prenatals have virtually zero calories, so they can't cause fat gain. I tracked my wife's daily nutrition and steps on an app during her pregnancy. The weight gain is just the baby, amniotic fluid, and increased blood volume, which is completely healthy and expected.
