Do out of date pregnancy tests still work?

My period is a few days late, and I found an old pregnancy test kit in the bathroom cabinet. It says it's expired. Will an out-of-date pregnancy test still give accurate results, or should I get a new one?

Honestly, they might give you a result, but it will probably be as confused as you are. Better to spend a hundred rupees and buy a fresh one rather than heart-attack inducing false alarms, haha.

I totally get it, waiting to know can be so stressful and you just want to use whatever test is available at home. But please, expired tests lose their chemical sensitivity and can give false negatives. Save yourself the anxiety and get a fresh kit today.

I didn't even know these tests have an expiry date on them. Does the line fade away completely if it is expired, or does it just show an incorrect reading? I am a bit scared to ask anyone in my family.

I used an expired one today and it showed negative, but now I am overthinking everything. Has anyone else got a false negative because of an old kit? I am so anxious right now and don't know what to believe.

Look, don't play guessing games with such important things. Expired means the chemicals are dead, simple. Go to the corner chemist, buy a new pack, and use morning's first urine for a clear, accurate result.

When we had a doubt, the senior gynecologist at Fortis told us never to trust expired kits as the results are highly unreliable. If you get a positive or a negative on an old test, you still have to confirm with a doctor or a blood test anyway.

I once used a test kit that was three months past its expiry date and it showed a faint line that confused me for days. When I finally bought a new one, it was negative. I learned my lesson to always check the manufacturing date first.

Chemicals in the test strips degrade naturally over time. Just like we don't use old medicines, we should not rely on expired kits. Keep your mind calm, take a deep breath, and get a new test strip from the pharmacy.
