Do more men choose surgery or radiation for prostate cancer?

I've recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and my doctor has given me a few treatment options. I'm trying to understand what is more common or effective. Do more men choose surgery or radiation for prostate cancer treatment?

Back when I was diagnosed, there was so much confusion between these two options. Many of my friends chose surgery, while I went with radiation therapy on my doctor's advice. Honestly, both have their own recovery journeys, so don't worry too much and trust your medical team.

When we consulted the oncology team at Max Hospital for my uncle, we realized the choice depends entirely on age and cancer stage. There is no one-size-fits-all answer here. You must ask your doctor to list out the exact pros and cons for your specific case.

Please be very careful and don't make a decision based only on what others are choosing. My cousin had major urinary issues after his procedure because we didn't discuss side effects properly with the surgeon. Go to a reputed urologist immediately and clear all doubts.

Whichever option the doctor recommends, keeping your body active is super important. My father went for radiation and did light daily walks which really helped his energy levels. Just check with your specialist on what intensity of physical movement is safe for you.

Both treatments take a toll on the body's strength, so focusing on a clean, protein-rich diet is key. I've seen family members recover much faster when they focused on nutrition alongside their medical treatments. Definitely discuss this with a clinical dietician.
