Do low hemoglobin cause weight gain?

I was diagnosed with low hemoglobin recently, and around the same time, I noticed I've gained some weight without changing my diet much. Can having low hemoglobin levels actually cause weight gain, or are these two things unrelated?

Arey, low hemoglobin usually makes you feel like a tired potato who wants to sleep all day! So while the anemia itself doesn't directly add fat, the absolute lack of energy to move surely doesn't help. Don't worry, just get some iron in you!

With my PCOS, I have realized how interconnected weight and blood levels are. Low hemoglobin makes you extremely exhausted, which can slow down your metabolism and stop you from exercising, indirectly causing weight gain. It is best to get a complete blood count and consult a gynecologist.

I can only speak from my own experience, but when my hemoglobin dropped to 9 last year, I actually gained a couple of kilos because I was too tired to even walk. Once my doctor put me on iron tablets and my levels improved, my energy came back and my weight stabilized.

It is so incredibly frustrating when you are trying your best to stay healthy, but your body just refuses to cooperate because of low hemoglobin. Feeling heavy and exhausted all the time can really take a toll on your mental peace. Please be gentle with yourself, it gets better once your levels improve.

I have been feeling so tired lately and my weight has gone up by 3 kgs despite not eating much. My blood test just showed low hemoglobin. Did anyone else here also experience sudden weight gain when their iron levels were low?

Please don't take low hemoglobin lightly, as severe anemia can lead to heart strain and other major complications. If you are experiencing rapid weight gain along with breathlessness or swelling in your feet, do not wait. Please consult a doctor immediately for a proper diagnosis.
