Do it yourself home pregnancy test?

My period is delayed, and I'm really anxious to find out if I'm pregnant. I don't want to go to the chemist right now. Can I try a 'do it yourself' home pregnancy test using common household items, or are those just myths?

You can easily buy a standard urine test kit from any chemist shop, they are very cheap and simple to use at home. However, if you are experiencing severe lower abdominal pain or heavy spotting, skip the home tests and go to a gynecologist immediately.

Don't stress yourself out with old grandmothers' methods like salt or sugar tests, they are not reliable at all. Just get a standard Prega News or similar kit, use the first morning urine, and you will get a clear answer.

When I missed my period, I tried the salt test out of curiosity but it gave a confusing result. I eventually bought a regular strip from the pharmacy and that was 100% accurate and peaceful.

Using a pharmacy test kit takes exactly 5 minutes and is extremely reliable. Just follow the instructions on the packet carefully. If it's positive, schedule an appointment with your gynecologist for a proper blood test and scan.

Just get a reliable kit from the medical store instead of DIY home remedies. If you are planning or trying to conceive, focus on a clean whole-food diet, mild workouts, and avoid any heavy lifting until you confirm with a doctor.
