Do iron supplements cause hair loss?

I started taking iron supplements recently to boost my energy, but now I'm noticing more hair falling out. Could iron supplements be causing hair loss? I'm confused because I thought iron was good for hair.

Honestly, self-diagnosing can be risky. Hair fall can happen due to so many underlying issues, not just the pills. Please get your serum ferritin and complete blood count checked first before jumping to conclusions, and show the report to a proper doc.

I agree with this. Actually, low iron itself is the main culprit behind hair fall, so iron pills usually help stop it rather than cause it.

Haan na, normally toh iron supplements hair health boost karte hain. But some people feel the tummy upsets from high doses makes them feel weak. Do consult your doctor and change the brand if it's not suiting you, ho na.

I am managing my diabetes since ten years and have to check every medicine carefully. My doctor told me iron is essential, and any sudden hair loss can be due to rapid blood sugar fluctuations or thyroid too. Get a full blood panel done to know the real issue.

See, iron deficiency anemia itself causes severe hair shedding. When you start supplements, it takes 2-3 months for the hair cycle to normalize, so don't panic thinking the medicine is causing it. Keep having nutritional food, spinach, and give it some time.

Ji bilkul nahi, iron ki goli se toh baal acche hote hain. Hamare ghar me didi ne khayi thi toh unka baal jhadna kam ho gaya tha. Aap bina daktar babu se pooche dukan se koi bhi dawai mat khao bas.
