Do headbands cause hair loss?

To keep my hair out of my face, especially when working or exercising, I love wearing headbands. My sister jokingly warned me that they might cause hair loss over time, especially around the hairline. Is there any truth to this concern about headbands and hair fall?

Actually yaar, if you wear those tight plastic ones all day, they definitely pull on the baby hair. Just use soft cloth bands instead, much better and very comfortable.

Constant tension from tight headbands can cause traction alopecia over time. If you notice your hairline receding where the band sits, it is best to consult a dermatologist for professional advice.

Just buy the loose elastic ones from the local market rather than those tight metal bands. Also, avoid wearing them on wet hair to prevent breakage at the roots.

Applying a little fresh aloe vera gel on the forehead line helps soothe the hair roots after wearing bands. But if the hair fall is severe, you must visit a doctor instead of trying home remedies.

Don't worry too much, hair doesn't fall out just from wearing headbands occasionally. Just give your hair a good massage with warm oil on weekends and let it stay loose sometimes.

My daughter started getting tiny bald patches near her temples because she wore tight headbands to school every day. We switched to loose hair clips, and her hair grew back nicely in a few months.

I ignored the pain from a tight headband and ended up with permanent thinning at the front. Please don't ignore persistent scalp pain or thinning, get it checked by a proper skin specialist immediately.
