Do hair extensions cause hair loss?

I'm thinking of getting hair extensions for my wedding next year. My friend told me that they can really damage your natural hair and cause hair loss. Is this true or just a myth?

I was looking to get clip-in extensions for my cousin's wedding and read that they can cause traction alopecia if they are too heavy. It basically pulls on your natural roots constantly. Has anyone here used them long-term without damage?

Haan na, weight toh hota hai unka humare real baalo par. If we wear them constantly without giving our scalp a break, thinning is bound to happen. Better to use them only for special functions and keep them light.

I ignored the mild pain and itching under my heavy tape-in extensions for months, thinking it was normal. By the time I took them off, I had bald patches that took over a year to heal under a doctor's care. If you feel any pain or pulling, please get them removed and see a dermatologist immediately.

My daughter got permanent extensions last year and started losing so much hair from the roots. I immediately took her to a good salon to get them removed safely and made her apply warm coconut oil weekly. Please don't let young girls use these heavy styling methods daily.

I completely understand the anxiety of seeing your hair thin out after using styling products or extensions, it can be so scary. The constant pulling definitely weakens the hair follicles over time. Please take them out for a few weeks to let your scalp breathe and recover.

I don't know about extensions, but eating a good protein-rich diet is much better for long hair than putting artificial stuff! Give me a bowl of chole bhature any day, but for hair, stick to almonds and paneer to make your natural hair thick instead of gluing fake ones.
