Do feet get bigger with weight gain?

Since I gained some weight in the last year, I've noticed my shoes feel tighter, and some don't fit anymore. Does this mean our feet actually get bigger with weight gain, or is it just my perception?

Yes, when we gain weight, the extra pressure flattens the arches of our feet, making them look wider and longer. I noticed this myself before I switched to a clean, plant-based diet. Eating lighter helps reduce that overall load and fluid retention in the feet.

That's very true, weight gain actually pushes the feet down and makes them spread out. It's always best to buy shoes that fit your current size to avoid painful shoe bites.

Obviously yes, your feet carry the weight of your whole body. When you put on weight, the feet flatten out to balance it, so your shoe size can go up by a number. Don't force yourself into your old shoes, buy a bigger size for now.

My feet used to swell up and feel tight in my sandals when my weight and blood sugar levels were high. For diabetics, foot size changes and swelling should be monitored carefully. Please eat low-glycemic foods to control fluid retention and protect your feet from nerve issues.

I totally panicked when none of my expensive heels fit me after I gained 12 kgs. I thought my bones had grown! But my doctor told me it's just fat tissue and flat arches from the weight, which is completely normal. Once I lost some weight, my old shoes fit perfectly again.
