Do extensions make your hair fall out?

A lot of my friends have started using hair extensions, and some of them have complained about increased hair fall later. Does wearing extensions really make your hair fall out, or is it just a myth?

I got those tape-in extensions done for a family function, and while they looked amazing, my hair fell out in clumps when they were removed. The glue and the heavy pulling really damage the hair shaft. I'd say think twice before getting them.

I already have hair thinning due to my thyroid condition, so my doctor strictly warned me against extensions. They pull on the roots and can cause permanent damage. Please get your thyroid levels checked too if your hair is already weak before getting extensions.

It is true that they can cause some shedding due to the weight. Just try to go for lighter clip-on options that you can remove at night so your scalp can rest.

Constant tension on the hair follicles from extensions will definitely cause breakage. No amount of protein shakes can fix that physical pulling. It's better to focus on nutrition and natural scalp health for better volume.

Listen, don't worry too much but yes, extensions do put pressure on your natural hair. If they are too tight or heavy, they can cause hair loss. Try to give your scalp a good break between sessions and focus on a healthy diet.

Any external stress on the body, including heavy hair accessories or tight extensions, can cause local scalp irritation. Keep your lifestyle simple and healthy. If you have sudden or heavy hair loss, it is better to get a medical checkup done.
