Do cortisone injections cause weight gain?

My orthopedic doctor suggested cortisone injections for my persistent knee pain. I'm a bit concerned about side effects, especially if they can lead to weight gain. Is that something common with these injections?

I ignored the side effects of my joint injections and ended up with high blood sugar levels. Please monitor your health closely and go for regular checkups after taking these shots.

A single cortisone shot usually doesn't impact your body weight significantly, though you might see a tiny spike in water retention for 48 hours. Keep tracking your active calories and sodium intake to manage it.

I was looking this up for my uncle's knee treatment. Apparently, localized joint injections have very little systemic absorption compared to oral pills, so significant weight gain is quite rare.

Having PCOS makes me prone to weight gain anyway, so I was very scared of cortisone shots. My doctor told me a single localized injection shouldn't cause systemic weight gain, but keeping an eye on diet always helps.

Single localized shots won't affect your weight or routine. Just get the injection on a weekend so you have a day to rest and then get back to work without stress.

Look, if you take 10 injections a year, you will gain weight. But for a one-time pain block, it won't make a difference, so just go ahead and get the pain treated.

When I got the shot at Kokilaben Hospital, my doctor clearly told me that only multiple frequent shots cause noticeable weight issues. Ask your orthopedician about the exact dosage to be safe.

Honestly, the shot didn't make me gain weight, but being on bed rest after the injection made me order so many sweet cravings! Just watch out for that idle eating.

If you are worried about fluid retention after the shot, try cutting down on processed salt. Drinking coconut water and fresh barley water can help flush out excess fluids naturally.

I totally get it, worrying about weight gain when you are already dealing with severe joint pain is so hard. Just focus on your recovery right now, the pain relief is much more important.

Please don't worry, a single joint injection rarely causes any permanent weight gain. It will mostly just help reduce your pain so you can move around easily.

I was incredibly anxious about getting this shot due to the fear of bloating. But honestly, my pain disappeared and I had no weight issues at all, so please try to stay calm.
