Do clip in hair extensions cause hair loss?

I've been thinking of getting clip-in hair extensions for some extra volume and length. My friend warned me that they can lead to hair fall if used regularly. Do clip in hair extensions cause hair loss or damage to your natural hair?

I really want to try clip-ins for a wedding, but I am so scared they will pull my natural hair out from the roots! Has anyone here used them regularly? Did you notice any bald patches or severe shedding after taking them off?

Clip-in extensions can cause a condition called traction alopecia if worn too frequently or if they are too heavy for your hair type. For occasional wear, they are generally fine, but if you're experiencing ongoing hair loss, it is best to consult a dermatologist.

Yes, the constant weight on your hair follicles can definitely weaken them. Please be very careful and don't sleep with them on. If you notice any scalp pain or thinning, get it checked by a doctor before the damage becomes permanent.

Look, simple logic—if you hang extra weight on weak hair, it is going to break. Use them for functions if you want, but don't make it a daily habit. If your hair is already falling out, skip these fancy extensions and focus on eating good food first.

They can pull on your hair, especially if your roots are already weak. If you must use them, make sure to massage your scalp with warm almond oil the next day to soothe the follicles. Try giving your hair a break of at least a few weeks between uses.
