Do calcium blockers cause weight gain?

My doctor prescribed calcium blockers for my heart condition, and I'm a bit concerned about potential side effects. I've read some things online about weight changes. Do calcium blockers cause weight gain? I'm already struggling with my weight.

These modern blood pressure medicines can sometimes cause fluid retention, which looks like weight gain. Along with your doctor's medicine, try reducing salt in your food and drink bottle gourd juice in the morning, it helps control pressure naturally.

My husband also faced this issue of swollen feet and slight weight gain with calcium channel blockers. Drinking coriander seed water helped him reduce the bloating, but we also got his dose adjusted by his doctor. Don't stop the medicine on your own.

I got so worried when my weight went up by 2 kgs in just a week after starting my BP pills. I read online that it is mostly water weight in the ankles, which made me panic even more. Please talk to your doctor, they might change the salt if it bothers you.

For someone with diabetes and high BP, managing weight is already tough. Some calcium blockers can cause mild edema, which adds to the weight. Keep track of your daily sodium intake and ask your doctor if a diuretic is needed to flush out excess water.

As if getting older wasn't enough, these BP medicines also add some extra weight! I noticed my shoes feeling a bit tight after starting them. It is mostly water, so don't stress, just mention it to your doctor during your next visit.

My dad is on these and he always complains about his feet swelling up. I searched online and found it is a super common side effect of calcium channel blockers. Just tell your doctor, they usually have easy alternatives for this.

Yes, I noticed some weight gain and ankle swelling when I was on them last year. My doctor explained it is just fluid retention and not actual fat. He switched me to a different class of medicine and the swelling went away in a few days.
