Do biologics cause weight gain?

I recently started on biologics for my autoimmune condition, and I've noticed a significant increase in my weight since then. Is weight gain a common side effect of biologics, or should I be concerned and talk to my doctor about it?

Honestly, it varies so much from person to person! Some of my friends on biologics did put on a little weight, but others felt absolutely no change at all. Just keep your doctor in the loop and enjoy your wellness journey! 😊

Whenever we start heavy treatments like biologics, our body's metabolism can react weirdly. I always suggest getting your thyroid panel and regular blood tests done alongside. Definitely discuss this weight concern with your specialist during your next monthly visit.

According to my fitness tracker data, my daily active calorie burn stayed the same when I started my therapy, but my water retention went up slightly in the first few weeks. I suggest logging your daily meals on an app and monitoring your weight weekly to see if it is actual fat or just bloating.

Haan na, weight gain ka darr toh humesha rehta hai. But actually, biologics directly weight nahi badhate, physically healthy feel hone se appetite thoda badh jata hai. Just keep a simple check on your diet and tension mat lo.

I am managing diabetes, so I have to track everything very closely. When my doctor discussed biologics, he told me that managing systemic inflammation can sometimes change how your body processes glucose and stores fat. Just keep a strict eye on your daily carb intake and track your sugar levels.

My doctor at Aster Medcity explained that biologics themselves don't directly cause fat accumulation, but reduction in disease activity can affect metabolic rates. Please ask your rheumatologist or dermatologist clearly about this during your next session. They can guide you based on your specific drug profile.

I completely understand why you are asking this, as I also spent sleepless nights searching about weight side effects before my first dose. It is very natural to worry about how these advanced drugs change our body. Please take a deep breath, most people do not see major changes, and your health is the top priority right now.

I totally get it, weight issues can be so frustrating when you are trying to heal. Sometimes the relief from pain just makes us sleep better and eat better, which naturally adds a few pounds. Don't be too hard on yourself right now, your body is doing its best to recover.

Bro, I have been on biologics for my skin for 6 months now. I actually gained like 3 kgs but honestly, it is mostly because my appetite got better once the pain went down. It is not like magic fat, just eat clean and you will be fine.

It is so tough when you are already dealing with a chronic illness and then have to worry about body changes on top of it. I struggled emotionally when my clothes started fitting tighter after starting treatment. Just remind yourself that getting your inflammation under control is the most important step for your long-term peace.
