Do beanies cause hair loss?

I love wearing beanies in winter, they're so cozy and stylish. But my cousin told me they might cause hair loss if worn too often. Is this something I should be concerned about, or just a baseless rumour?

I had severe hair fall and blamed my winter beanies, but a regular blood checkup revealed it was actually due to my thyroid levels. Don't worry, beanies don't cause hair loss. But if you have persistent thinning, please get your thyroid and iron levels tested.

I wear beanies almost every day during the winters when I travel, and I haven't noticed any extra hair fall from it. Just make sure the material is soft and not excessively tight around your hairline, and keep them clean to avoid scalp itching.

No, wearing a beanie will not cause you to lose your hair. Just try to wear loose, breathable cotton ones if you have a sensitive scalp, and avoid keeping them on for too many hours indoors. Take care of your health.

I used to panic so much when I saw a few hair strands stuck inside my woollen beanie every evening. But then my doctor told me losing 50-100 strands a day is completely normal. Unless you are wearing an extremely tight beanie that physically pulls your hair, you are totally safe.

Beanies don't cause hair loss, but trapped sweat can sometimes make your roots itchy. I always wash my beanies regularly and gently massage my scalp with a little warm coconut and rosemary oil once a week to keep the roots nourished and healthy.
