Do baseball caps cause hair loss?

I wear baseball caps pretty often, especially when I'm out with friends or playing cricket. Lately, I've noticed a bit more hair fall than usual. My friend joked it's because of the caps; is there any truth to that rumour?

Haan na, even my brother used to wear his cap all day and worried about this. Actually, caps don't cause hair loss directly unless you wear them extremely tight. Just make sure your cap is clean so sweat doesn't cause scalp infections.

Wearing any tight headgear for too long can block fresh air and trap sweat on your scalp. I always advise the youngsters to wash their hair regularly and avoid wearing tight caps continuously. Let your scalp breathe naturally to keep the roots strong.

I totally understand your worry because I used to panic every time I saw a few hair strands in my cap. But don't stress, normal cap-wearing doesn't pull out hair. If you are losing a lot of hair, it might be due to stress or genetics, so consult a doctor to ease your mind.

I had a detailed consultation about this at Max Hospital. The doctor told me that wearing a cap very tightly can cause traction alopecia, but casual wear is completely harmless. For proper treatment of hair loss, you should consult a dermatologist rather than guessing.

I was facing terrible hair thinning and thought my daily cap was the culprit. When I visited a dermatologist, he explained that caps don't cause baldness; it was actually my nutritional deficiencies. I took the prescribed supplements and my hair is much better now.
