Could low iron cause hair loss?

Significant hair loss has been bothering me lately, and my friend suggested it might be due to low iron. Could a low iron level or iron deficiency actually cause hair loss? I want to know if I should get my blood tested.

Don't waste time on random oils or internet remedies. If your iron is actually low, you need a proper serum ferritin blood test to confirm. Go to a doctor, get the test done, and take the specific supplements they prescribe.

Yes, it absolutely does. I visited a trichologist at Apollo Hospital for my hair thinning, and the first thing they checked was my iron levels. It is best to ask your doctor directly for a treatment plan rather than self-diagnosing.

Low ferritin is literally one of the most common reasons for hair fall in India. I had massive hair shedding last year and fixing my iron levels resolved it. Get a blood panel done; it's the only way to be sure.

Low iron and thyroid issues often go hand in hand and both cause heavy hair loss. I always make sure to get my thyroid panel and iron profile tested every six months. Regular follow-ups with your doctor are very important.

Yes, low iron causes hair fall. Instead of buying expensive hair serums which cost thousands, just spend 500-600 rupees on a basic iron and CBC test at a local lab. That will tell you exactly what your body needs.

I totally get it, watching your hair fall out can be so stressful and disheartening. Low iron reduces oxygen to your hair follicles, making them weak. Please take care, get tested, and eat more spinach and beetroots.

Yes, low iron is a very frequent cause for hair thinning. Once you start eating iron-rich foods or taking doctor-approved supplements, your hair will gradually start growing back. Try not to worry too much.
