Can your liver hurt from alcohol?

My husband drinks alcohol regularly, and I've been worried about his liver health. I know excessive drinking isn't good, but can the liver actually start hurting or showing symptoms of pain directly because of alcohol consumption?

Yes, alcohol causes inflammation and fat accumulation in the liver, leading to a dull ache on your right side. Along with completely stopping alcohol, eating a clean, vegetable-rich diet can help support recovery. Do speak to a physician for proper advice.

I have been feeling this heavy, dull pain on my right side lately after weekend dinners. Did anyone else face this and find that it goes away completely after stopping alcohol for a few weeks?

Yes, alcohol-induced liver swelling is quite common. It is your body's signal to halt alcohol consumption completely. Make sure you consult a doctor, get your liver function tests done, and do not take any self-medication for the pain.

Persistent pain on the upper right side after drinking is not something to ignore. It could indicate alcoholic fatty liver or early hepatitis. You should immediately consult a doctor and get your liver enzymes checked for your own safety.

Yes, it can! The liver has to work super hard to process alcohol, which can cause some swelling and pain. Give your body a nice long break from drinks and hydrate well with fresh juices and coconut water.

Yes, alcoholic liver disease starting with fatty changes often presents as a dull ache. The liver doesn't have pain nerves directly, but its outer cover stretches when swollen, causing discomfort. Stop drinking immediately and see a general physician.

I used to worry constantly about every little pinch in my stomach after having even one beer. Alcohol definitely stresses the liver and causes ache if you overdo it. Please get an LFT and ultrasound done just to be safe and calm your mind.
