Can you use tens machine during pregnancy?

I'm experiencing severe lower back pain in my third trimester, and it's making daily activities very difficult. I've heard about TENS machines helping with pain. I wanted to ask if it's safe to use a TENS machine for pain relief during pregnancy.

I panicked when I accidentally used a TENS machine on my shoulders before knowing I was pregnant. My doctor reassured me that it's okay on the shoulders, but warned me never to use it on my lower back or belly. Don't worry, just consult your doctor before using it again.

The constant backaches during my pregnancy were so emotionally draining and I just wanted quick relief. But when I asked about using my TENS machine, my doctor advised against it to protect the baby. It was hard, but we have to prioritize safety.

I just delivered my baby last month and used a TENS machine during active labor under my midwife's guidance, which was incredibly helpful. However, during the actual pregnancy, my doctor strictly told me to keep it away from my lower torso.

Buying an expensive TENS machine during pregnancy might be a waste of money anyway, as doctors usually advise against using it near the abdominal area. Better to spend that budget on essential prenatal checkups and regular scans.

My mother suggested gentle oil massages for my wife's back pain, but we also asked the doctor about using a TENS machine. The doctor advised us to avoid using it during pregnancy because the electrical currents can be risky. Better to stick to simple, safe warm compresses.
