My periods are late, and I'm getting anxious. I have a few ovulation test kits at home from when we were trying to conceive. I heard somewhere that these can also detect pregnancy. Is it possible to use an ovulation test to check for pregnancy?

While both tests detect hormones, an ovulation test measures LH, not hCG which is the actual pregnancy hormone. Using the wrong kit can give misleading results. It is best to use a proper pregnancy test kit or visit your doctor for a blood test.

Just like we need specific glucose strips for sugar testing, we need specific kits for pregnancy. Don't substitute one for the other as the chemistry is totally different. Stay careful and get the right kit from the chemist.

I have tried so many hacks while trying to conceive, including using ovulation strips for pregnancy. Sometimes they show a positive because LH and hCG are structurally similar, but it is not reliable at all. Please use a regular pregnancy kit for peace of mind.

Since I have thyroid issues, I have to be extremely precise with my hormone monitoring. Ovulation tests and pregnancy tests look for completely different hormones. Please get a proper beta-hCG blood test done at a lab if you suspect pregnancy, and follow up with your doctor.

Haan na, both tests are totally different actually. Ovulation strip pregnancy detect nahi kar sakti properly. Apne local pharmacy se normal pregnancy kit le aao, vahi best hai.

In our days, we did not have all these different strips, but science has made things so specific now. Don't confuse yourself by using the wrong kit, beta. Buy a proper pregnancy test card to get the right answer.
