Can you use biofreeze during pregnancy?

I often use Biofreeze for muscle aches, but now I'm pregnant and experiencing some body pains. My husband is worried about the baby. Is it safe to use Biofreeze during pregnancy for pain relief?

Pregnancy back pain is very common, but instead of using Biofreeze which has strong menthol, a simple warm water bag works wonders. If you still want to use the gel, just check with your doctor during your next routine checkup.

Biofreeze contains active menthol which cools the area, but the safety data during pregnancy isn't fully established for large areas. Better to track your daily steps, do some light stretching if cleared by your doc, and avoid strong topical pain relievers.

Menthol rubs like Biofreeze are absorbed through the skin, so we advise pregnant women to use them sparingly, if at all. It is always safest to consult your obstetrician before applying any cooling or heating pain gels on your back or joints.

Just like we have to monitor everything carefully to keep sugar levels stable, pregnant women need to be cautious about any chemical application. Don't use Biofreeze without asking your gynecologist; there are safer natural ways to manage aches.

While you are busy satisfying those midnight ice cream cravings, don't forget to keep your pain relief simple! Skip the strong chemical gels like Biofreeze and try a gentle massage or warm compress instead. Do ask your doc first though.

Please check with your doctor first. Topical pain relievers with menthol are generally not recommended without medical advice during pregnancy.
