Can you test for autism during pregnancy?

My cousin's child was diagnosed with autism at a young age. I'm currently pregnant and wondering about early detection. Is it possible to test for autism during pregnancy, or only after the baby is born?

I totally get it, as an expecting parent you want to be prepared for everything and it's natural to have these questions. Currently, there are no medical tests or scans that can detect autism while you are pregnant. It is usually diagnosed through behavioral observations as the child grows up.

In our times, we didn't have so many complicated worries during pregnancy. Autism is something related to a child's development and behavior, so it cannot be found through any pregnancy scans. Just focus on keeping yourself happy and healthy right now, and let things happen naturally.

Hey, relax. There is no prenatal test available to diagnose autism during pregnancy, so please don't stress yourself out with unnecessary worries. Just focus on your routine checkups, take your prenatal vitamins, and enjoy this beautiful journey.

No, there are no tests to detect autism during pregnancy. It is diagnosed much later through behavioral checks as the baby grows.

I have been reading so much online about developmental issues and it is making me super anxious about my upcoming scans. Has anyone else felt this constant fear during their pregnancy? I keep wondering if they can catch these things early.

When we were expecting, keeping the mother's blood pressure and lifestyle healthy was our main priority. You cannot test for conditions like autism before birth anyway. Stick to your regular ultrasounds and doctor checkups to ensure a smooth pregnancy.
