Can you take valtrex during pregnancy?

My wife is in her first trimester, and she just found out she has a cold sore. She used to take Valtrex to treat cold sores quickly. Is it safe to take Valtrex during pregnancy, or should she avoid it?

I am in my first trimester and quite nervous about taking any antiviral medications. Does Valtrex have any known side effects on the baby? I will ask my gynaecologist about this in my next visit.

Pregnancy complications can happen very quickly, so please do not take any antiviral like Valtrex without a direct prescription from your OB-GYN. Your doctor needs to evaluate the benefits and risks carefully.

My sister had to take some antivirals during her pregnancy last year, and she was super stressed. But her doctor explained everything and managed the dose perfectly. Just talk to your doc, they know best!

With any ongoing issue like thyroid or infections during pregnancy, regular blood tests and doctor follow-ups are critical. Please don't self-medicate with Valtrex; let your specialist guide you step-by-step.
