Can you take too much folic acid during pregnancy?

My wife is taking folic acid supplements during her pregnancy. She's worried that she might be taking too much with all the other iron supplements and diet. Can you take too much folic acid during pregnancy, and is it harmful?

Taking excess of any supplement isn't ideal during pregnancy. Just stick to the exact daily dosage your gynecologist prescribed and avoid doubling up if you miss a day.

Yes, high doses can mask other vitamin deficiencies, so follow your doctor's prescription closely.

Excess of anything is bad for the body, especially when a baby is growing. Along with the doctor's tablets, try to eat natural spinach and green leafy vegetables which are very safe.

Too much of a good thing can be tricky! 🌟 Just stick to the standard 400-800 mcg as advised by your sweet doctor and you'll both be super healthy! 💕

My elder sister was super paranoid about this and started checking every single multi-vitamin label. Honestly, just stick to what the doctor wrote and don't overcomplicate it.

Don't start eating folic acid tablets like they are standard mints! One tablet a day as prescribed is more than enough to keep the baby happy and you stress-free.

Buying extra supplements without a doctor telling you is just a waste of money and might lead to extra blood test costs later. Let the doctor decide the exact dosage based on your reports.
