Can you take magnesium during pregnancy?

Newly pregnant, I'm trying to be very careful about what I take. My friend told me magnesium is good for many things, but I'm unsure about supplements during this time. Can pregnant women safely take magnesium, or should it be avoided?

Oh, I get so anxious about taking anything during pregnancy, even basic vitamins. Please do not start taking any magnesium pills without asking your gynecologist first, just to be absolutely safe.

Yes, many pregnant women take it, but you must ask your doctor for the correct dose first.

I was also thinking of taking magnesium for my leg cramps, but I am so scared of side effects. Did your doctor suggest it to you, or are you planning to take it on your own?

Haan, magnesium is quite common for cramps during pregnancy, but self-medication is not good na. Just ask your doctor once in your next routine checkup.

In our days, doctors would prescribe basic vitamins and minerals based on our blood reports. Don't worry, just follow your obstetrician's advice and they will guide you correctly.

Since I manage my high BP, I know how important mineral balance is. But during pregnancy, you should only take supplements after a proper checkup and doctor's recommendation.

I have to be very careful with supplements because of my diabetes. For pregnancy, it is even more critical to get your blood levels checked before introducing any new supplement like magnesium.

You can get magnesium naturally from foods like almonds, spinach, and pumpkin seeds too. If you still feel the need for a supplement during pregnancy, definitely run it by your doctor first.

Magnesium is often recommended for sleep and cramps during pregnancy, but there is no point guessing the dosage. Just drop a quick message to your gynecologist's team to get a clear answer.

I took magnesium during my third trimester because of terrible leg cramps, and it really helped. But my doctor prescribed the specific type and dosage, so please don't self-medicate.
