Can you take clonidine during pregnancy?

I have high blood pressure and take Clonidine for it regularly. Now that I'm pregnant, I'm worried about continuing my existing medications. Can you take Clonidine during pregnancy, or do I need to switch?

Clonidine is a serious prescription medicine for blood pressure, not something you should ask about on internet forums. Do not take or stop this medication on your own during pregnancy. Get an immediate consultation with your gynaecologist.

My doctor mentioned this for my BP and I've been feeling so anxious about taking it. Has anyone else been prescribed clonidine during their pregnancy? I am terrified of any side effects on the baby and really want some reassurance.

Hey, take a deep breath. Clonidine is sometimes used during pregnancy for BP, but it must be closely monitored by your doctor. Don't make any changes to your dose on your own, just call your clinic and let them guide you safely.

Agreed, BP meds are very critical during pregnancy. Please talk to your doctor today to make sure you are on the safest dose.

I've seen many expecting mothers deal with BP issues. Clonidine is a known medication, but only your doctor can decide if it's the right choice for your specific trimester and health condition. Keep monitoring your pressure at home and stay in touch with your doctor.

I once ignored high blood pressure symptoms thinking they would go away, and it led to a major medical emergency. If your doctor has prescribed clonidine or if your BP is high, please get regular checkups and never skip your medical appointments.

I always recommend keeping a digital log of your daily blood pressure readings if you are prescribed meds like clonidine. Take these readings to your doctor so they can adjust your dose safely. Never self-manage your blood pressure during pregnancy.
