Can you still have periods during pregnancy?

I've heard stories from older ladies in my family about having periods even after they were pregnant, especially in the first few months. Is this actually true? Can you really have your monthly periods while you are pregnant?

Actually, you cannot have a true menstrual period once you are pregnant. Some light spotting can happen due to various reasons, but please do not worry. Just keep your doctor informed about any bleeding so they can guide you safely.

Scientific speaking, a real period is impossible during pregnancy because of the hormones. If there is bleeding, it could be due to small infections or hormonal shifts. Keep the patient on bed rest, avoid stressful physical activities, and show her to a gynaecologist as soon as possible.

Dekho, simple baat hai, pregnancy me period bilkul nahi hota. Agar bleeding ho rahi hai toh use period samajh ke ignore mat karo. Seedha doctor ke paas jao aur checkup karwao taaki baad me koi pachtava na ho.

You cannot have a period because your uterine lining is holding the pregnancy. Bleeding can happen from cervical changes or implantation, but if it is heavy or accompanied by severe cramping, please go to the hospital. These could be warning signs of a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.

I completely understand how terrifying it is to see blood when you are expecting a baby, your mind instantly goes to the worst scenario. While real periods don't happen, spotting can occur and be totally harmless. Take a deep breath, and let your doctor take a look to give you peace of mind.

With a crying toddler keeping me awake all night, I can barely think, but I remember this clearly from my pregnancy. It is biologically impossible to get your period while pregnant. If you are bleeding, it is not a normal cycle, so stop Googling and just call your doctor.
