Can you still get cavities with veneers?

I recently got veneers on my front teeth to improve my smile. I was told they protect the underlying teeth, but I'm still cautious about cavities. Can you still get cavities with veneers, or are they completely immune to decay?

Yes, because veneers only cover the front surface of your teeth. The back and the margins near the gums are still natural tooth tissue and can definitely decay, so doctor's advice on cleaning is essential.

Just like how I go for my thyroid checks regularly, you need regular dental checkups for veneers too. Decay can quietly start under the edges, so early detection is key.

I am always extra cautious with my health. Even with veneers, we shouldn't assume our teeth are fully protected, as plaque can still collect at the gumline and cause decay.

Never ignore any tooth sensitivity near your veneers thinking they are artificial. Get it checked by your dentist immediately to rule out any underlying decay before it ruins the tooth.

My elders always said dental hygiene should never be neglected. While the veneer itself won't decay, the natural tooth underneath certainly can, so trust your dentist and get regular checkups.

I was actually planning to get veneers soon and didn't know this could happen. Does getting them make it harder for the dentist to detect cavities?
