Can you sleep with wet hair in a bonnet?

I like to wash my hair at night, but it takes ages to dry completely. A friend suggested I could put it in a bonnet while it's still wet and sleep like that. Is sleeping with wet hair in a bonnet bad for my hair or scalp?

It is not recommended because the trapped moisture can cause scalp fungal infections. Try to dry your hair at least 80% before putting on the bonnet.

Sleeping with wet hair trapped in a satin or silk bonnet creates a warm, damp environment that is perfect for yeast and dandruff to grow. Dermatologists advise thoroughly drying your scalp first to avoid seborrheic dermatitis.

I was reading about curly hair care tips online and found out that putting wet hair in a bonnet can actually cause hair breakage and a smelly scalp. It is much better to plopping your hair for an hour and then letting it air dry.

Omg, don't do that sweetie! Your hair will stay damp all night and you might wake up with a cold or a super itchy scalp. Just use a hair dryer on cool setting for five minutes, don't stress too much!

Keeping wet hair trapped for hours can cause skin and scalp infections. For diabetic patients, any fungal infection on the scalp can become stubborn and take a long time to heal. Always dry your hair properly.

No, please dry your hair before sleeping. Keeping wet hair covered can lead to scalp itching and a cold. Take care.
