Can you sleep on your stomach during pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and finding it really hard to get comfortable at night, especially since I'm a stomach sleeper. I've heard it's not good, but at what point does it become a problem to sleep on your stomach during pregnancy, and what are the risks?

In the first trimester it is usually fine, but as the bump grows, stomach sleeping becomes impossible. To stay comfortable and maintain good circulation, try going for light daily walks and switch to sleeping on your left side as soon as possible.

Honestly, you won't have time or energy to worry about this once you are tired from work and pregnancy. In the early weeks it is okay, but practically speaking, investing in a good side-sleeping pillow early on will save you a lot of sleepless nights later.

Beta, sleeping on the stomach is not recommended at all as the baby grows. To get good sleep on your side, drink a glass of warm milk with turmeric before bed, and place a soft rolled-up cotton sheet under your tummy for comfort.

Shuruat mein toh thoda chalega, par baad mein pet ke bal nahi sona chahiye. Hamare yahan sab kehte hain ki baayein karwat (left side) sona hi bachche ke liye sabse badhiya aur surakshit hota hai.

My doctor at Cloudnine hospital clearly told me that stomach sleeping is totally fine until the uterus rises out of the pelvis around week 12. After that, you must switch. Please ask your gynecologist clearly about your specific timeline.

Don't blindly trust random online forums saying you can sleep on your stomach late in pregnancy using special donut cushions. It is not worth the risk. Verify the safety of any sleeping aid or position directly with your obstetrician.

I struggled so much with this because I simply couldn't sleep on my side and felt so guilty and emotional thinking I was harming my baby. Please don't be hard on yourself, it takes time to adjust. Just take it one night at a time.

In the early weeks, your baby is very well protected inside, so don't worry if you find yourself on your stomach. As the weeks pass, just use a long pillow next to you to block yourself from rolling over. Wishing you a very healthy pregnancy!

Completely agree with the side-sleeping advice; using a pillow between your knees makes a huge difference.

Practicing gentle side sleeping with a pillow is best for the baby's oxygen flow. To help your body transition and calm your mind, try practicing 10 minutes of simple Anulom Vilom breathing before lying down on your left side.

I was just doing some research on this for my sister, and it seems that while it's okay early on, side sleeping is the way to go later. It's quite interesting how the body naturally adapts as the pregnancy progresses.

I just had my baby girl two months ago! I was a tummy sleeper too and dreaded changing my position, but by week 16, my body naturally made me shift to my side because stomach sleeping felt too tight and uncomfortable anyway.

Honestly, trying to sleep on your stomach in the third trimester is like trying to balance on a watermelon! Save yourself the struggle and just start making friends with side sleeping right away.

As someone who hasn't slept properly in months, I say sleep however you can in the first trimester! But seriously, after that, your belly will feel like a hard basketball, so stomach sleeping is definitely out of the question.

I am 10 weeks pregnant and still sleeping on my stomach, but I feel so anxious every morning. Does anyone else feel like they are putting pressure on the baby, or is it actually safe in the first trimester?
