Can you have hypothyroidism without weight gain?

My mother has hypothyroidism and struggles with weight gain. I'm worried I might have it too, but I haven't put on any weight. Can you have hypothyroidism without gaining weight?

It is totally possible and it can be so frustrating when people dismiss your exhaustion and brain fog just because you haven't gained weight. I struggled with severe fatigue for a year before getting diagnosed because I looked 'fine' from the outside. Your struggles are absolutely real, don't let anyone make you feel otherwise.

Yes you can! I have borderline hypo but my weight stays normal, probably because I balance my love for samosas and sweets with some portion control. Though the sluggishness is real, sometimes I just want to drink my chai and sleep for ten hours straight.

Actually yaar, many of my friends have thyroid issues but they are quite lean. It's not necessary that everyone will put on weight, sometimes you just get really bad hair fall and dry skin instead. It depends on your daily lifestyle and genetics also, honestly.

My sister has had hypothyroidism for ten years and never gained weight. Our mother used to tell her to drink warm coriander seed water, which is good, but she always took her daily thyroxine pill as advised by her doctor. Trusting your doctor's treatment is the most important thing.

I consult an endocrinologist at Fortis and he explicitly told me that hypothyroidism symptoms vary wildly from patient to patient. Weight gain is common but not mandatory at all. You should prepare a list of all your symptoms and ask your doctor clearly during your next visit.

Yes, weight gain is not a mandatory symptom. If you maintain a clean, plant-based diet with plenty of fiber and low processed sugar, your weight might remain stable despite low thyroid levels. Keep focus on nutrient-dense foods like leafy greens and nuts to support your overall endocrine health.

Yes, the body can maintain its balance through proper daily routine and physical movement, preventing weight gain even with hypothyroidism. Practicing daily pranayama and regular physical movement helps stimulate the gland and keep your body weight in check naturally.

You definitely can, so don't wait for weight gain to test. Better to book a basic thyroid panel online, it costs around 300 to 400 rupees on apps like Tata 1mg or PharmEasy. Getting tested early saves you from bigger medical expenses and health issues later on.

From what I have been reading on medical forums, nearly 30 percent of hypothyroidism patients don't show the classic weight gain symptom. They might only have fatigue, depression, or cold intolerance. It's fascinating how different bodies react to the exact same hormone deficiency.

Haan bilkul ho sakta hai, mere tauji ko bhi thyroid hai par woh shuru se bilkul fit hain. Unhe toh bas thakan aur thoda mood swings ka issue rehta tha. Toh sirf weight badhne ka wait mat karo, test karwa lo na ek baar safe side ke liye.

Yes, don't ignore other signs like extreme morning lethargy and skin dryness just because your weight is fine. If you have a busy job, these symptoms can ruin your productivity. Spend 10 minutes booking a home sample collection and get your TSH checked this weekend itself.

I was recently tested and my TSH is high, but my weight is actually quite low. I am a bit scared about starting medications now. Does the medicine cause any major side effects or change your weight if it's already normal? Any advice would really help me.
