Can you have food poisoning without vomiting?

I ate some street food yesterday, and today my stomach is really upset with cramps and diarrhea. I haven't actually thrown up though, which is making me wonder. Is it possible to have food poisoning without experiencing any vomiting?

Actually yaar, yes you can. I had terrible food poisoning last month from some stale chicken, and I didn't vomit even once. I just had severe stomach cramps and loose motions. It was so exhausting, but you definitely don't have to throw up to have food poisoning.

My family physician explained that different pathogens affect the gut differently. For instance, certain bacteria like Clostridium perfringens typically cause watery diarrhea and abdominal cramps but rarely cause vomiting. So yes, food poisoning without vomiting is actually quite common.

Yes, food poisoning symptoms vary depending on the specific bacteria or toxin involved. Sometimes it only causes diarrhea, severe cramps, and nausea without any vomiting. Since dehydration is the main risk, consulting a doctor and drinking ORS is highly recommended.

Listen, food poisoning doesn't always mean you will throw up. Sometimes it just upsets your intestines and gives you loose motions. Stop worrying about why you aren't vomiting, drink plenty of water with salt and sugar, and rest. If it doesn't stop, go to the clinic.

Oh yes! Last year after overeating some spicy street food, I had the worst stomach cramps and bloating, but no vomiting. I was actually glad because throwing up is the worst. I just survived on sweet curd and light khichdi for two days.

Yes, son, you can have it without vomiting. The stomach can just feel very heavy and bloated with sharp pains. Drink some warm water with cumin seeds (jeera) boiled in it, or take a little buttermilk with roasted hing. It will soothe the stomach naturally.
