Can you have crohn's disease without weight loss?

I've been having some stomach cramps and discomfort, and a friend suggested it could be something like Crohn's. However, I haven't lost any weight; in fact, my weight has been pretty stable. Can someone still have Crohn's disease if they're not experiencing significant weight loss?

Yes, you can definitely have Crohn's without losing weight. Many patients maintain or even gain weight.

Absolutely, I have had Crohn's for five years and actually gained weight due to steroid treatments. Don't rely on weight loss as a diagnostic tool. Focus on tracking your bowel habits and get a colonoscopy to confirm.

Yes, and skipping diagnosis just because you aren't losing weight is dangerous. I had silent inflammation that led to a stricture blockage. Go to a good gastroenterologist and get an endoscopy or MRI enterography done.

I ignored my constant stomach cramps for a year because my weight was totally normal, and I really regret it. It turned out to be Crohn's and the delay caused severe inflammation. Please get a proper checkup done.

Yes, beta. Weight loss usually happens if the small intestine is heavily affected and cannot absorb nutrition. If the disease is limited or mild, your weight might remain completely stable. Please consult a gastroenterologist.
