Can you get rid of diabetes by losing weight?

My doctor recently told me my blood sugar levels are high, and he strongly recommended weight loss. I am overweight, actually. Can reducing my weight completely reverse diabetes, or at least help manage it significantly?

Losing weight can definitely help put Type 2 diabetes into remission for many people, which is amazing. However, it depends on your genetics and how long you've had it. It is always best to consult your endocrinologist before changing any treatment plan.

Weight loss makes a massive difference in insulin sensitivity, which I also notice with my PCOS. But let's be careful about using the term 'get rid of' permanently. It is more about managing and reversing the symptoms, so keep working on it gently.

Dropping your body fat percentage through a structured diet and weight training works wonders for HbA1c levels. Many of my gym mates have completely stopped their medications this way. Just keep your workouts consistent and monitor your daily food intake.

Actually yaar, my uncle lost around twelve kgs and his sugar levels came back to totally normal. He doesn't take pills now, but he has to maintain that lifestyle strictly. So you can control it big time, but don't start eating junk again thinking it is gone forever.

Losing weight definitely helps sugar levels, but the hardest part is staying away from sweets and heavy carbs! If you can balance your portions and do portion control without completely giving up your favourite food, reversing it becomes much more sustainable.

Yes, clinical studies prove that substantial weight loss can reverse Type 2 diabetes. But let's be realistic, it requires a complete lifestyle overhaul, not just a temporary diet. Get your blood tests done regularly and track your progress scientifically.

I always worry so much about diabetes complications in my family. Hearing that losing weight can reverse it gives me some hope, but I still feel anxious. Please make sure you consult a proper doctor and don't push your body into crash diets too fast.
