Can you get rid of cavities by brushing your teeth?

My dentist told me I have a small cavity. I've heard that sometimes early cavities can be reversed. Can simply brushing properly and regularly help to get rid of a cavity once it has formed?

Honestly, I tried brushing like three times a day hoping my cavity would just vanish. It did not work at all and the pain got so bad I couldn't drink cold water. Finally had to get a proper filling done last month, now it is totally fine.

My dentist explained this clearly last week. Brushing only helps when the decay is in the very initial stage on the enamel. Once a proper black cavity forms, the structure is damaged and you definitely need a doctor to clean and fill it.

Please don't rely only on brushing if you already have a deep cavity. With my PCOS, I am always extra careful about inflammation and oral health. It is much safer to get a quick dental checkup done before any infection spreads.

Please go see a doctor soon. I ignored a tiny black spot on my molar for a year, thinking thorough brushing would clean it out. It turned into a massive infection and I had to undergo a painful root canal which cost me a bomb.

As a diabetic, I have to be extremely careful about tooth decay and gum infections. Brushing is great for prevention, but once a cavity sets in, it won't go away on its own. Better to see a dentist and manage it properly to avoid sugar spikes from dental infections.

Just like regular gym sessions won't fix a torn ligament, brushing won't reverse an established cavity. Keep up your active lifestyle and morning walks, but take out one hour to visit a clinic. Only a dentist can fix that tooth structure.
