Can you get postnatal depression during pregnancy?

I'm in my third trimester, and I've been feeling unusually sad and anxious lately, more than just normal pregnancy worries. I know about postnatal depression after birth. Can you experience postnatal depression symptoms while you're still pregnant?

Technically, depression during pregnancy is called prenatal or antenatal depression, while postpartum happens after. Don't try to self-diagnose or read random online articles about this. Go talk to a qualified doctor or counsellor immediately.

Ah, the mind plays some heavy games when a baby is on the way! While the name 'postnatal' implies after birth, severe mood changes can definitely start during pregnancy itself. Better to tell your spouse or doctor instead of quietly suffering.

I totally get it, feeling low or highly anxious when you are supposed to be happy is so hard. It is called prenatal depression and it is very real. Please don't blame yourself, talking to a therapist can bring so much relief.

Yes, many women start experiencing deep anxiety and depressive symptoms before delivery itself, which is antenatal depression. It is highly manageable. Make sure to share your feelings with your gynaecologist during your next routine checkup.

Hormones can really ruin your mood, making you feel down even when you have your favourite street food in front of you! If you are feeling constantly sad or detached during these months, it is best to consult your doctor for proper support.

The journey of bringing a new life can be overwhelming for the mind and body. It is very common to feel anxious or low during pregnancy. Pray, try doing light meditation, and most importantly, seek proper medical guidance for your peace of mind.

Ji, mental health during pregnancy is very important. Sometimes we feel very worried and sad before the baby is born. Please do not hide your feelings, tell your family and consult a doctor in your town.

My mother used to say that mood swings are normal during pregnancy, but extreme sadness is different. If you are feeling constant despair, please do not ignore it as simple moodiness. Speak to your gynaecologist, they can guide you safely.
