Can you get hepatitis c from alcohol?

My doctor recently told me to cut down on alcohol for my liver health. It made me wonder, can you directly get hepatitis C just from drinking alcohol, or is it more about other risk factors combined?

I agree with others. Alcohol doesn't carry the virus, but it definitely weakens your liver, making any infection worse.

You cannot directly get the Hepatitis C virus from alcohol itself, as it is a viral infection. However, drinking heavily damages the liver, making a Hep C infection much more dangerous. If you drink regularly, please get your liver enzymes and Hep C status checked for safety.

Alcohol can cause alcoholic hepatitis, which is liver inflammation, but Hepatitis C is a specific viral infection caused by blood-to-blood contact. They are different, though both harm the liver. Consulting a gastroenterologist is best to understand your liver health clearly.

Bhai, daru peene se virus nahi aata, par daru liver ko kamzor zaroor kar deti hai. Agar kisi ko pehle se bimari ho toh daru bilkul band kar deni chahiye. Apne bade hospital mein jaakar jach karwa lo.

I am new here and learning about this. So does it mean drinking alcohol only causes liver damage but not the actual virus? If someone already has Hep C, is even a little bit of alcohol very dangerous for them?
