Can you get hair cancer?
My parlour wali di told me something weird about hair and cancer the other day. I was just wondering, can we actually get cancer *of* the hair itself? Or is it always about the scalp or skin? I got a bit confused.

Honestly, don't read these random health blogs or trust Whatsapp forwards about hair cancer. Most of it is just fake news to sell some special oils or shampoos. Better to talk to a proper oncologist or dermatologist who can give you the real science behind it.
I had a major scare last year when I noticed some weird bumps on my scalp and started googling. It turned out to be just a mild skin infection, not hair cancer or anything scary. Now I just go to my doctor directly instead of trying to figure things out online.
Dealing with PCOS has taught me that the scalp and hair can behave very weirdly due to hormones, but cancer is a whole different thing. I don't want to say anything for sure since I am not a doctor, but it is always safer to get any unusual scalp issues checked by a specialist.
Oh god, even reading this question makes me super anxious because I constantly worry about these things too. From what I know, hair itself is dead tissue, but the skin on the scalp can definitely get issues. Please don't panic like I do, just see a doctor once to put your mind at ease.
Haan bhai, actually hair as such has no living cells so there is no hair cancer na. But scalp skin skin cancer ho sakta hai agar unusual moles ya growths ho. Faltu tension mat lo, chill karo aur agar doubt hai toh doc ko dikha lo.

I am also quite new to reading about this, but I always thought hair is just keratin. Can the hair follicles themselves actually get affected by serious diseases? If anyone has spoke to a doctor about this, please do share.
