Can you get fired because of pregnancy?

I recently found out I'm pregnant and I'm very happy, but also worried about my job. My company has been a bit difficult lately with employee benefits. Is it legally possible for an employer to fire someone specifically because they are pregnant in India?

Legally speaking, the Maternity Benefit Act in India strictly protects pregnant women from being dismissed. If you face any health issues due to stress at work, discuss it with your doctor and get a medical certificate to submit to HR.

Actually yaar, it is completely illegal under Indian law to fire someone for being pregnant. Some corporate places might try to pressure you, but you should stand your ground and talk to HR. Don't take unnecessary stress right now.

I faced a similar situation where my startup tried to ask me to resign when I told them about my pregnancy. I flatly refused and quoted the Maternity Benefit Act. They backed off immediately. Know your rights and stay confident!

Oh, please don't take stress, it's not good for the baby! Focus on eating healthy and enjoying your cravings like hot samosas or sweets. Your job is legally protected, so just relax and eat well.

I just delivered my baby two months ago and went through this anxiety. The law is completely on our side, so you can't be fired. Just focus on your health, do your regular checkups, and don't let corporate pressure get to you.

During my pregnancy, I had severe complications and had to take early leave. My doctor gave me a strict medical certificate which saved my job legally. Please ask your gynecologist for a proper rest letter if work is too strenuous.

Under the law, no company can terminate your contract during maternity. Keep all your medical records and communication with HR in writing. If you face any discrimination, raise it formally with clear dates and proof.
