Can you get a teeth cleaning with cavities?

I haven't been to the dentist in a while, and I know I have a couple of small cavities. I want to get my teeth cleaned, but I'm wondering if they'll do the cleaning first, or if the cavities need to be filled before that. Is it okay to get a teeth cleaning if you have existing cavities?

I have a couple of cavities and need a cleaning, but I am so scared it will hurt badly when they use those metal tools near the sensitive areas. Has anyone else gotten a cleaning with cavities? Did it cause a lot of pain?

Oral health is super important for overall physical performance. You can definitely get a cleaning done with cavities; in fact, removing the plaque helps prevent further decay. Just make sure to get the cavities filled soon after.

Of course you can. No dentist will refuse a cleaning just because you have cavities. They usually clean the entire mouth first so they have a hygienic area to do the fillings. Just book an appointment and get it sorted.

Yeah, you can easily get it done. I went for a cleaning last month with two cavities. The dentist just cleaned around them first and then scheduled another appointment to fill the cavities. It is actually better because they clear the plaque first.

Honestly, I had the same question before visiting my dentist. They actually prefer cleaning your teeth first so they can see the cavities clearly before filling them up. It is totally normal, so just go for it.
