Can you get a handicap placard for pregnancy?

I'm in my third trimester now, and walking even short distances is becoming really difficult and tiring. I saw someone with a handicap sticker who was pregnant, so I was wondering if it's possible to get a handicap placard specifically for pregnancy?

When my sister was pregnant, she had terrible swelling in her feet. We tried asking around for a special parking pass, but the RTO told us there is no provision for temporary pregnancy placards. Usually, malls and offices are nice enough to let you park near the lift if you show them the situation, so just talk to the guards directly.

During my second pregnancy, I had severe pelvic pain and could barely walk. Unfortunately, standard pregnancy doesn't get you a permanent handicap placard in India. However, if you are facing high-risk complications, your doctor can write a special note to help you get permission for closer parking at your workplace or apartment.

My bhabhi was looking for this last month but found out there is no such rule in India for pregnancy. Honestly, she just started using cab apps instead of driving, so she always got dropped right at the entrance. Much easier than finding parking!

I feel you, girl! Walking from the last row of a parking lot when you are heavily pregnant is the absolute worst. Since we don't get official placards for this, my hack was to always use valet parking or just get my husband to drop me at the gate first. Don't shy away from asking for help!

No, unfortunately, pregnancy does not qualify for a standard handicap parking placard. You will have to rely on valet parking or general drop-offs.

I was actually reading about this online yesterday because my wife is in her second trimester. It seems most states in India don't have a temporary handicap placard system for pregnant women. It is a bit sad because walking across huge parking lots in this heat is so exhausting for them.

I had a severe cervix issue during my pregnancy and was strictly ordered not to walk. Since there are no official placards, we had to be very careful. If you are experiencing pain that makes you want a handicap pass, please consult your doctor immediately to rule out any serious complications like early labor contractions.

According to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, temporary conditions like pregnancy do not qualify for a disability certificate or placard. My wife's doctor also confirmed this but advised that if there is severe sciatica or pre-eclampsia, we must avoid any strain. It's better to use drop-off zones.

I had a very difficult third trimester with extreme backache. I didn't get any official government handicap card, but my husband used to drop me right at the entrance of any place before parking the car. That made things much easier for me.

Unless it is a high-risk pregnancy where bed rest is advised, light walking is actually very good for your health and stamina. Of course, don't push yourself if you are feeling pain. If you have severe pelvic pressure, avoid long walks in parking lots and request the valet service instead.

I am currently five months pregnant and finding it hard to walk long distances because of back pain. Is there any private pass we can buy for mall parkings? I am new to this and any advice would really help me.

My grandmother always said pregnant women shouldn't strain themselves, but medically, there is no official handicap placard for pregnancy here. I would suggest speaking to your obstetrician if the pain is too much. They can advise if you need a maternity belt or physical therapy to help with the walking.
