Can you eat mussels during pregnancy?

My family is planning a seafood dinner this weekend, and mussels are usually a big part of it. I'm currently pregnant, so I wanted to double-check if mussels are considered safe to eat.

I know how stressful it is when you have intense cravings but are constantly terrified of hurting the baby. Mussels can be eaten, but they must be absolutely fresh and fully cooked until the shells open. If you are feeling too anxious, it might be better to skip them for peace of mind.

The doctors at Lilavati Hospital strictly advised us to avoid raw or partially cooked shellfish like mussels during pregnancy due to the high risk of bacterial contamination. If you really want to eat them, please consult your doctor first to understand the risks.

Hey, don't stress too much about it! You can eat mussels as long as they are fully cooked and steaming hot. Just make sure you don't eat any that have closed shells after cooking. Stay safe and enjoy your food!

Mussels in garlic butter are amazing, but pregnancy means you have to be extra careful. Raw shellfish is a big no-no. If you are ordering them, ensure the restaurant cooks them thoroughly, or better yet, make them at home where you can control the hygiene.

I had a very difficult pregnancy with several complications, so I became extremely cautious about seafood. Shellfish can carry harmful bacteria that are dangerous for the baby. I strongly recommend avoiding mussels completely and checking with your doctor first.
