Can you drink alcohol with kidney stones?

Been dealing with kidney stones for a few months now, and it's quite painful. My family has a wedding coming up, and I'm feeling a bit out of place if I don't participate in the celebratory drinks. Is it absolutely necessary to avoid alcohol entirely or can I have a little bit?

I was reading about kidney stones because my roommate got them recently. Apparently, alcohol dehydrates your body severely, which actually makes the stone pain much worse and can lead to more stones forming. It seems staying hydrated with plain water is the absolute best thing you can do.

Oh god, kidney stone pain is the absolute worst, please don't take any chances! Alcohol can cause sudden uric acid spikes which might lead to more stone formation, which makes me so nervous just thinking about it. Please focus on drinking water and keeping your kidneys safe.

Let's be practical: alcohol causes dehydration, which is the number one enemy when you have kidney stones. You need maximum water flow to help flush the stone out. If you must drink, keep it extremely minimal and drink double the amount of water alongside, but honestly, it is better to skip it.

Honestly, if you have kidney stones, drinking alcohol is just asking for trouble. Dehydration makes the stone concentrate more, and passing it will be much more painful. Just drink lots of water and coconut water instead of touching any alcohol right now.

The pain of kidney stones is so terrifying, I am always scared it will suddenly strike again. I have been completely avoiding even a single drink because I am worried it will trigger the pain. Does anyone else get super anxious about drinking alcohol when they have stones?

Kidney stones need plenty of fluids to pass out safely. Alcohol will only heat up the body and cause dehydration. In our family, we suggest drinking fresh barley water or coconut water daily to help soothe the kidneys. Please avoid alcohol and drink plenty of warm water.
