Can you drink alcohol after weight loss surgery?

I had weight loss surgery last year, and I'm very careful about what I eat and drink. I've heard mixed things about alcohol. Is it safe? Can you drink alcohol after weight loss surgery?

Hello, I am thinking of getting this surgery done next year but I am a bit scared. I read online that alcohol gets absorbed much faster after weight loss surgery, is that true? Does it make you feel dizzy very quickly? Pls share if anyone has experienced this.

Oh god, please be extremely careful with this. My anxiety would never let me touch alcohol after such a major stomach change because your body processes it totally differently now and it can hurt the stomach lining. I think it is much safer to avoid it completely to prevent any sudden complications.

My son had bariatric surgery last year, and his doctor strictly told him no alcohol for at least the first six months to a year. Even now, he has to be very careful because his tolerance has dropped to almost zero and it adds empty calories. As a mother, I always tell him to stick to fresh lime water instead.

I had my weight loss surgery almost eight years ago. In my experience, your system changes completely and even a few sips of alcohol can make you feel highly intoxicated and sick. Don't worry, you get used to the new lifestyle, but definitely stay away from drinks during the recovery phase.

I know how stressful it is to navigate social life after such a big surgery, you don't want to feel left out at parties. It is totally valid to feel anxious about these changes. Just go very slow, and check with your surgeon first because your body's absorption rate is completely different now.

Your digestive system has undergone a major surgical change, so we must treat it gently. Alcohol is very hot and acidic for the stomach. Instead of drinks, try taking thoda warm water with jeera or warm coconut water to soothe your stomach. Rest well and let your body heal naturally.
