Can you develop asthma during pregnancy?

In my second trimester, I've been feeling quite breathless and sometimes wheezy for the past few weeks, especially at night. I didn't have asthma before, so I'm concerned if pregnancy can make you develop it.

Honestly, pregnancy already makes you feel like you are running a marathon while sitting on the sofa, and developing asthma on top of that is just not fair! But yes, it happens quite often because of all those crazy hormones. Definitely talk to your doctor so you can breathe a bit easier while waiting for the baby.

My grandmother always said that pregnancy brings many unexpected changes to a woman's body, including breathing patterns. Developing or worsening asthma during these months is quite common due to hormonal shifts. It is extremely important to trust your gynecologist and pulmonologist to manage it safely for both you and the baby.

Absolutely, pregnancy-induced asthma is a known condition due to hormonal and physical shifts in your chest cavity. Don't try to tough it out or avoid medicines out of fear. Modern asthma inhalers are very safe during pregnancy, so consult your doctor immediately.

Yes, asthma can definitely develop or get triggered for the first time during pregnancy. It is very important to manage it because proper oxygen levels are crucial for your baby. Please consult both your gynecologist and a lung specialist to get a safe, effective treatment plan.

My wife recently went through this during her third trimester where she suddenly developed breathing tightness. Her doctor diagnosed it as pregnancy-induced asthma and prescribed a mild, safe inhaler. Her symptoms fully resolved after delivery, so definitely get it checked out.
