Can you become lactose intolerant during pregnancy?

Since my pregnancy started, milk and dairy items have been making me feel very bloated and uncomfortable. Earlier, I never had any issues with them. Can pregnancy cause you to suddenly become lactose intolerant?

Haan, bilkul ho jata hai kabhi kabhi. Mere pados me ek bahu ko dahi aur doodh se pregnancy me bahot gas banne lagi thi. Ghabrao mat, thode din doodh mat piyo, dahi thoda thoda kha ke dekho agar pachti hai toh.

Yes, temporary lactose intolerance can happen due to hormonal shifts. Try switching to lactose-free milk or almond milk for a while.

I didn't know this could happen, it sounds quite uncomfortable. Does it go away automatically after the baby is born, or does it stay forever? If anyone has faced this, please share.

I totally get it, pregnancy stomach issues are the absolute worst! Your body is dealing with so much pressure. If milk is upsetting your stomach right now, just give it a break and try curd or paneer instead to see if that feels better.

Pregnancy changes your body’s digestion in weird ways. I had to watch my dairy intake too. If you are avoiding milk, just ensure you get your calcium from spinach or ragi, and consult your gynecologist about supplements.

Yes, digestive issues are quite common during pregnancy. Since dairy can sometimes trigger inflammation in PCOS too, I’ve learned to be careful. It might just be temporary, but definitely mention it to your doctor at your next visit.
